Product Description

The BMP3 (bone morphogenetic protein 3) gene encodes a secreted protein belonging to the TGF-β (transforming growth factor-β) superfamily. Alterations in the methylation status of this gene, particularly hypermethylation of the CpG island in its promoter region, can silence gene expression and is closely associated with the development and progression of various tumors.


Research has found that hypermethylation of the BMP3 gene occurs in:

·Colorectal cancer (CRC): In the majority of CRC cases, the BMP3 gene is hypermethylated and downregulated.

·Gastric cancer: A study found that methylation of the BMP3 gene promoter was detected in 64.44% of gastric cancer tissue samples.

·Other cancers include cholangiocarcinoma, breast cancer, pancreatic cancer, and lung adenocarcinoma (LUAD).
